Blue Bloods” Fans Furious Over CBS’s Decision to Cancel Show After Season 14: Is This Really the End?

Blue Bloods viewers are outraged that attempts to save the show from cancellation have failed. The series is currently airing the final eight episodes of its final season on CBS, and the network has yet to announce any spinoffs to come.

On October 26, the official Blue Bloods Instagram account posted a series of photos snapped during the show’s final season. In the comments section of the post, fans were quick to voice their frustrations with CBS as the series nears its end.

“Still doesn’t make sense why you’d cancel this show!!” one person wrote under the post, to which another frustrated person replied, “Absolutely none! They have plenty of other shows they should cancel!”

“The fact that this show was the number one show last week in the ratings proves that it should not be canceled why are you canceling the show are you out of your minds?” another person said.

According to TV LineBlue Bloods was the most-watched program on October 18, when the premiere episode of the second half of season 14 aired on CBS.

“CBS is on some stupid mess why on earth would you cancel a number one show I’m so upset with them right now please let another network pick up the show please,” another fan wrote in a comment on the show’s Instagram page.

“Still can’t believe you’re canceling this show of all of them…” another comment said.

The show’s leading man, Tom Selleck, has spoken out about not wanting the show to end.

“I’m kind of frustrated. During those last eight shows, I haven’t wanted to talk about an ending for Blue Bloods but about it still being wildly successful. In a Top 100 Shows of 2023-2024 (in total viewers, we were number 9 out of 100), if you discount the three football shows, we’re No. 6!” he told TV Insider on October 3.

Fans Weigh in on Blue Bloods Cancellation

“I’m not going to turn into a bitter old guy saying, ‘Get off my lawn!’ I don’t believe in holding grudges, but if you were to say to the television network, ‘Here’s a show you can program in the worst time slot you got, and it is going to guarantee you winning Friday night for the next 15 years,’ it would be almost impossible to believe,” the Emmy winner explained. “My frustration is the show was always taken for granted because it performed from the get-go. So how do I feel? It’s going to take a long time to sort all of this out. I remember after the weekend [of the final episode’s shoot], I said, ‘I’ve got to get to bed early tonight because I have to do my dialogue for Monday.’ Well, there was no Monday. It’s just going to take a while.”

Blue Bloods cast member Bridget Moynahan also expressed sadness over the series coming to an end after 10 years on CBS.

“It’s bittersweet. I want my job back!” she said during a recent appearance on Sherri. “It was a good run. Fourteen years with a group of people, we were a family on and off the screen.”

As for the reason behind the cancellation, CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach spoke out about the show ending in a statement to Deadline.

“We love this cast, we love their passion for the show,” she told the outlet in May. “All shows have to come to an end. It’s important to us to refresh the schedule. We are going to end the show come December.”
