Below Deck Sailing Yacht: Can Daisy Kelliher Redeem Herself After Damaging Her Reputation In Season 5? (Has Too Much Happened?)
Below Deck Sailing Yacht: Can Daisy Kelliher Redeem Herself After Damaging Her Reputation In Season 5? (Has Too Much Happened?)
Chief Stew Daisy Kelliher used to be a fan favorite in the Below Deck franchise, but she might become a villain in Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5. The Irish Chief Stew has appeared on Below Deck Sailing Yacht since season 2, replacing Chief Stew Jenna MacGillivray. Known for her no-nonsense attitude and dry humor, Daisy is one of the most entertaining figures in the franchise. However, her reputation began to shift after her love triangle with former Chief Engineer Colin Macrae and series bad boy Gary King.
Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 is already rife with conflict, and Daisy is at the center. Gary’s sexual misconduct incident looms large over his presence on the show, with Gary accusing production of editing him out due to pushback. He denied all accusations of wrongdoing, but it’s unclear what role Gary’s bad behavior played in the alleged incident. Onboard, Gary and Daisy are both struggling with their crew. Gary is frustrated with unmotivated and incompetent Deckhand Emma Crouch, and Daisy can’t seem to get along with Stews Diana Cruz and Danni Warren. Will she redeem herself?
Daisy Doesn’t Always Take Advice
Captain Glenn Slammed Her Behavior
- Daisy could be in trouble aboard the Parsifal III in Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 due to her inability to take advice. She’s one of the most knowledgeable people in the franchise, but that doesn’t mean she’s immune to constructive criticism. On a recent episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Captain Glenn slammed Daisy’s behavior. He told Andy that Daisy needs to be “listening and taking on board feedback,” hinting at her inability to take constructive criticism.
- It’s important to note Captain Glenn also had advice for Gary and Chef Cloyce Martin, who hold leadership roles onboard. However, Daisy could venture into villain territory if she completely eschews all feedback while also doling out advice to Chef Cloyce. The 22-year-old chef didn’t take kindly to Daisy’s recommendations at the end of the last charter, but eventually took her advice to heart. Daisy needs to do the same.
Daisy’s Turning Into A Villain
She’s Feuding With Stew Diana Cruz
Daisy is in a feud with one of her stews, Diana, and their disagreements have been seen both on and offscreen. Early in the season, Diana struggled to follow Daisy’s orders, often questioning her approach. When Daisy asked Diana and Danni to use their downtime to practice cocktail-making, citing her need to improve bartending skills, Diana got cranky pretty quickly. She refused, asserting her right to rest during breaks, leading to further clashes between the two. While Diana seems to be in the wrong, Daisy could still get a villain edit.
Daisy doesn’t deserve the villain edit, but she shouldn’t have made Diana work off-the-clock.
Diana publicly aired her grievances on Instagram after the episode, sharing a screenshot from ChatGPT, alluding to employees not wanting to work on their breaks. While the post was snarky, it illustrated Diana’s frustration with Daisy’s demands as Chief Stew. As the show continues to air, it’s come to light that Daisy doesn’t follow Diana on Instagram. However, she follows everyone else from the season 5 cast. It’s fair to say Diana and Daisy didn’t squash their beef during filming, and Daisy could eventually become the bad guy despite seeming to be in the right.
Daisy May Be A Producer Plant
Her Love Triangle Stirred Up Drama
Daisy’s producer plant accusations have been cropping up since the beginning of Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5. While she started as unassuming and professional, Daisy quickly became the center of all the drama in Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4. She and Gary hooked up off-screen between seasons 3 and 4, and Gary’s lingering feelings threatened Daisy’s relationship with Colin. The former Chief Engineer felt blindsided by the whole situation, and all three of their friendships were effectively ruined.
Daisy wasted no time in chastising Gary for his lack of support in the wake of her public breakup with Colin in the season premiere. Since Daisy doesn’t have romantic drama in Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5, it seems producers might be exacerbating tensions with her stews, Danni and Diana, to create drama for more entertaining episodes. Daisy’s scenes with stews and previous interactions with Gary and Colin look manipulated in retrospect, earning Daisy her poor reputation for season 5.
However, Daisy can still redeem herself. She’s always been a fan favorite, and there’s no reason she can’t return to her more favorable reputation. Daisy needs to be straightforward yet kind to her stews, avoiding passive-aggressiveness. She also needs to keep her distance from Gary, as they seem to explode when arguing with each other. As long as Daisy remains genuine and no-nonsense on Below Deck Sailing Yacht, she will redeem herself.
