Colin Macrae’s Return Hinges On Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5 Being Daisy Kelliher’s Last Season
Colin Macrae’s Return Hinges On Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5 Being Daisy Kelliher’s Last Season
Below Deck Sailing Yacht star Colin Macrae could return to the series after this difficult season, but his comeback hinges on the current season of the show being his ex-girlfriend Daisy Kelliher’s last. Daisy has been a fixture on Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5, but her presence hasn’t been as enjoyable for viewers as it has been in the past. Despite being part of the series since Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 2, Daisy’s seemed to wear out her welcome on Parsifal III with her current behavior, and viewers are very interested in seeing Colin return to the show.
While Daisy’s behavior on Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 has been difficult to watch, her time on the show before this season was enjoyable. Colin, who along with Daisy and Gary King made up an exciting trio on the series, had a tough time after he and Daisy ended their relationship, and made the decision not to return to Below Deck Sailing Yacht after a difficult season. While it’s possible he didn’t make his choice based on Daisy, things were tense between the pair during their last reunion together. Colin may not want to come back with Daisy around.
Colin & Daisy’s Relationship Was Tumultuous
Their Romance Seemed Inevitable
Colin and Daisy’s relationship went from a potential romance to a full-blown boatmance, culminating in the pair getting into a legitimate relationship during Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4. As one of the show’s most dramatic conflicts, their relationship escalated and spiraled into chaos as they continued on through the season. With issues surrounding their trust for one another and miscommunication, Colin had a tough time with Daisy’s close relationship to Gary, and his frustration turned into arguments between himself and Daisy. The pair’s on-screen conflicts were difficult for their professional lives, and led viewers to invest in their relationship.
Colin and Daisy’s difficulties in their relationship bled into the crew dynamics throughout Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4, which made a huge impact on the way the crew was able to work. While Daisy did a decent job at maintaining her position as Chief Stew throughout the personal drama she was facing, Colin had a tougher time working well with the rest of the crew without letting his drama infuse his behavior. With Colin usually an easygoing Chief Engineer, his demeanor changed throughout the season, making it clear that something needed to change to keep him regulated and calm.
Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4’s Reunion Aired Their Dirty Laundry
The Exes Had A Difficult Breakup
The Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 reunion turned into one of the most difficult that the series has ever seen, with Colin and Daisy coming at each other consistently. While the pair had broken up by the time the reunion aired, it was clear there were things they hadn’t spoken about surrounding their time on the show prior to the reunion being filmed. Both yachties shared their side of the story, but there was no middle ground for them to fall into, which caused the crew stress as the reunion continued on and they were pushed to choose sides.
It was clear from the Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 reunion that what had happened between Colin and Daisy was deeply personal, but had so much of a stake in the Parsifal III crew that it was impossible to separate the two. While Colin made it clear he still hadn’t trusted Gary and Daisy throughout their time together, Daisy was upfront about the fact that Colin’s distrust and jealousy made her feel like he was villainizing her in their relationship. The pair couldn’t come to a conclusion where both of them took accountability for their issues and parted amicably.
Colin Left The Show, But Claimed It Wasn’t About Daisy
He Had Other Opportunities
Colin chose to leave Below Deck Sailing Yacht after appearing on the show for three seasons, explaining his decision wasn’t tied to his breakup with Daisy. Instead, Colin tried to make it abundantly obvious that his time on the show had come to a close, and his decision was more about the ability to work elsewhere and take on personal projects without having to work around his Below Deck schedule. Despite Colin trying to make it seem otherwise, though, it was clear his breakup with Daisy at least played a role in the decision to leave Below Deck Sailing Yacht.
Even though Colin tried to be diplomatic about his exit from the show not being about Daisy, it was clear that the breakup played a role in his departure from the show. Colin’s view of the experience may have been somewhat skewed because of the way everything played out, but it was clear that the struggles with Daisy damaged the way he was able to interact with the rest of the crew. Colin had a hard time building the same sense of camaraderie and enjoyment he typically had when working aboard Parsifal III because of the issues in his relationship.
Daisy Leaving Could Open Up The Door For Colin’s Return
Things Could Change For The Series
Daisy’s potential exit from Below Deck Sailing Yacht could open the door for Colin to return to the series. While Daisy has been on the show for four seasons, her performance throughout Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 has proven that she needs to take a break from the show. Whether it’s professional dissatisfaction, lingering resentment, or something else entirely, Daisy hasn’t been herself on Parsifal III this charter season, and likely needs to take a step away. Though Daisy’s presence hasn’t been something that directly impacts Colin’s availability for the show, he’s more likely to return if she leaves.
With Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 6 currently casting, it’s already clear that Gary will be leaving the show after the current season, and Daisy may join him as well. If both choose to leave, Colin may have the ability to return to the sailing yacht and build a sense of community within his team, the way he has in the past. Colin’s return could be great for the show, and could usher in a whole new era of Below Deck Sailing Yacht for viewers. Though he may not, it would be great to see Colin return to the series.
